Employee onboarding

Employee onboarding is an automated workflow process that can be used to ensure that the necessary steps to induct a new employee into the organization are performed in a prescribed manner and sequence. 


An HR person would typically submit a scheduled onboarding request that will be processed automatically at the beginning of the new employee’s scheduled hired date.

This would result in the Microsoft 365 user account being created, the appropriate license assigned, and a license-specific welcome email being sent to the employee.

This can be extended, for example to track prescribed training activities, or to obtain proof of acknowledgement of company policies, or of the signing of legal employment forms.

Employee offboarding

Employee offboarding is an automated workflow process that can be used to ensure that the necessary steps to terminate an employee are performed in a prescribed manner and sequence at a scheduled time, or with immediate effect. 


An HR person would typically submit a scheduled offboarding request that would be processed at the end of the employee’s last day of employment. This would result in their SharePoint list item assignments being replaced, Microsoft 365 user account being blocked, mailbox archived, license removed, requested email forwarding configured, and their OneDrive data being shared or archived.
